Miraculous Ladybug Season 1 Episode 9 Copycat

Marinette is on the balcony of her house talking to Tikki about Adrien. Whenever Marinette tries to talk to him, he can't say anything. Tikki suggests she talk to him on the phone and Marinette calls Alya to ask for Adrien's number.

Meanwhile, a statue is about to be unveiled at the Place des Vosges. Mayor Bourgeois congratulates sculptor Théo Barbot for his efforts to create the statue. Théo wishes to meet Ladybug and get her to sign her photo.

In Marinette's room, Alya prepared a speech for Marinette to read to Adrien over the phone and invite him to the movies. Marinette protests, saying that she sounds awkward and unnatural reading out loud. Alya replies that Marinette should memorize the text. Before Marinette can back out, Alya presses the 'call' button.

Marinette dances with her phone in hand before being directed to Adrien's voicemail. He is currently in fencing training, as seen from Adrien's schedule on the calendar attached to Marinette's ceiling. Alya tells her to leave a message. Panicking, Marinette leaves an impromptu voicemail and tosses it back to Alya on her couch. She then accidentally records herself admitting that she is in love because she never ended the call. He tries to delete the message, but Adrien's phone saves it. To preserve their dignity, Marinette and Alya rush to school to delete the message from Adrien's phone before fencing practice ends.

Meanwhile, Adrien takes a break from training to drink some water. Hiding in his locker, Plagg tells him that he has a new voicemail on this phone from an unknown sender. When Adrien goes to check his messages, he notices that it's almost 2:00 AM and that he'll be late for the statue unveiling. He quickly transforms into Cat Noir.

Just as they are leaving the bakery, Marinette and Alya notice Cat Noir leaping across the rooftops and landing in front of a statue in the Place des Vosges. Only then do they remember that the unveiling of the statue was supposed to be today. Alya stays at the park to take pictures of the ceremony for Ladyblog, while Marinette runs ahead to the school to delete the voicemail, hoping to make it back in time as Ladybug.

Théo is disappointed that Ladybug hasn't shown up for the ceremony yet, but Cat Noir assures him that she should be there soon. He goes so far as to call himself the leader of the duo. Mayor Bourgeois thinks Ladybug might appear sooner if he starts the ceremony without her, but Théo convinces him to wait a little longer.

Marinette sneaks into the boys' locker room and calls Adrien's cell to find out which locker is his. At the same time, Mayor Bourgeois ends up starting the ceremony without Ladybug and unveils the statue, much to Theo's disappointment, and Marinette finds Adrien's locker. Tikki unlocks the door by walking through it.

The statue ceremony ends and the people leave. Cat Noir stays behind to thank Mayor Bourgeois while Théo expresses his sadness at not being able to meet Ladybug. From Théo's words, Cat Noir realizes that Théo is in love with Ladybug. He becomes jealous and hints to Theo that he and Ladybug are already romantically involved. Théo angrily leaves, wondering what Ladybug sees in Cat Noir.

Back at school, fencing practice is over and the boys return to the locker rooms. Tikki is anxious to get to the statue unveiling ceremony, but Marinette fails to delete the message from Adrien's phone; she can't get past the pattern lock to open it. As the swordsmen enter the locker room, she hides behind the door, grabs the phone, and sneaks out of the school just as Adrien returns. Adrien grabs his bag from the locker and leaves, not realizing his phone is missing.

In his studio, Théo rages about how Cat Noir doesn't take love seriously and how he, not Cat, deserves to be with the Ladybugs. Sensing Theo's jealousy and anger, Hawk Moth sends out an akuma. Akuma lands on a photo of Ladybug and Théo transforms into the supervillain Copycat. Hawk Moth promises that Théo can have Ladybug forever if he brings back Cat Noir's and Ladybug's Miraculouses.

At home, Adrien can't find his phone and thinks Plagg has done something to him. He grabs the house phone, calls the cell, and when he does, Marinette freaks out. Thinking he left it at the gym, Adrien grabs Plagg and rushes out of the house. Meanwhile, Copycat wanders into the Louvre and steals the Mona Lisa while all the museum goers look on and try to frame Cat Noir.

In the car, Adrien heard about the theft and rushed to the school, transforming into Cat Noir and escaping to the Louvre. His driver is waiting outside the school.

Marinette is still trying to hack Adrien's phone while wearing a ridiculous outfit when Alya calls from the Louvre to inform her about Cat Noir (Copycat) stealing the Mona Lisa. Marinette is confused at first, thinking that someone has robbed Cat Noir, but Alya clears it up. Marinette doesn't believe that Cat Noir would do such a thing. He turns into Ladybug and goes to investigate.

At the Louvre, Cat Noir convinces the police to let him investigate the scene of the theft, telling them that the thief was an impostor. Under the guise of trusting him, Roger Raincomprix tricks Cat Noir into locking him in a room. Roger refuses to let Ladybug see him when he arrives, telling her to leave the case to the professionals. Cat Noir uses his Cataclysm to escape and fights a squad of officers waiting at the entrance to the Louvre.

When Roger hears about Cat Noir's escape, he and Ladybug run inside, only to find officers on the ground. Ladybug realizes that Cat Noir was holding back against the police. Ladybug leaves, leaving the "professionals" to take care of Cat Noir.

Outside, Cat Noir uses his staff to contact Ladybug's yo-yo and tells her she needs to find the impostor, and flees the police helicopters and police cars. He disappears into a subway station and transforms into Adrien. There are a bunch of police cars across the street from the subway he entered. Plagg suspects that the impostor is the new akuma victim, and Adrien realizes that it must be Théo when he recognizes the lollipop stick that Copycat planted in the Louvre.

Cat Noir arrives at Theo's studio and calls Ladybug, letting her know that he found Copycat's hideout. She asks where she is, but Cat Noir decides that - since this situation is his fault - he has to handle it himself so he doesn't tell her where she is before hanging up. Ladybug uses the tracking device in her yo-yo to find him.
