Lila is back!
Marinette arrives at the literature classroom to find that almost everyone has switched seats, leaving a vacant seat next to Adrien. Marinette believes that Alya made everyone switch seats so she could sit with Adrien and thanks her. Then she wonders if it’s such a good idea because she might lose focus and fail the class. However, Alya reveals that she is not sitting with Adrien, but rather in the back row. When she asks why, Nino tells Marinette that it’s because “she” has a hearing problem and needs a front row seat. Marinette wonders who “she” is. Just then, Miss Bustier walks into the classroom and announces that Lila has returned from her trip to Achu and will rejoin their class, just as Lila herself enters the classroom and greets everyone. Noticing that a front row seat has been saved for her, Lila thanks everyone for remembering her hearing problem and sits down. Marinette skeptically asks Lila about her hearing problem, which Lila claims is tinnitus, a constant buzzing in her left ear, caused by the sound of the plane’s engine bursting her eardrum while rescuing Jagged Stone the cat. Marinette points out that Jagged Stone’s pet is a crocodile, but Lila claims that he had a cat before he found out he was allergic. She then asks Adrien for help catching up on her schoolwork. Marinette complains to Miss Bustier about having to sit in the back, so Adrien offers his seat to Marinette, to which both Marinette and Lila disagree. Lila feigns sadness that her return has caused so much trouble and says she’ll sit in the back if Marinette really wants it. They all stare at Marinette and make her sit in the back. Once seated, an outraged Marinette angrily watches as Lila flirts with Adrien.
Hawk Moth senses Marinette’s anger and sends an akuma after her. However, before she can infect her, Miss Bustier tells the class to open their textbooks, calming Marinette down. Hawk Moth senses that Marinette’s negative emotions have stopped but is convinced that they will reappear and tells his akum to be patient.
Lila tricks everyone into bringing her lunch.
At lunch, everyone gets Lily’s food for her because she claims she has a sprained wrist and can’t get her own food. Marinette complains about Lila to Aly saying that Lila made up her hearing problem just so she could sit next to Adrien and also lies about her sprained wrist. Alya doesn’t understand why Marinette seems to have a thing for Lila, so Marinette decides to tell her everything. He drags her and Nino to a separate table away from the others and talks about Lila when she first came to school. He mentions how everyone was amazed at her incredible life, but Marinette found something that might be off. That’s why she spied on her and overheard her telling Adrien that she was friends with Ladybug and called her a liar. However, Nino finds it strange that Marinette was eavesdropping on Lila and Adrien, and asks Alya for proof that Lila doesn’t actually know Ladybug. Realizing she couldn’t do this without revealing her secret identity, Marinette decided to prove Lila was lying about her sprained wrist by throwing a napkin at her. Lila grabs it with her “sprained” wrist and reveals that it’s not sprained at all. However, Lila covers by pretending to be hurt, even more so when she claims she wanted to grab the napkin before it hit Max’s eye because she saw a man gouge his eyes out with a napkin in India. Max is grateful and everyone else berates Marinette for hurting Lila even more. However, Lila defends Marinette, saying that she was just trying to give her a napkin. With that, Marinette is enraged and angrily storms into the restroom, catching everyone by surprise.
Lila threatens Marinette.
Lila follows and asks Marinette why she doesn’t like her, believing it to be because of the new seating arrangement and wanting to sit next to Adrien. She says it’s not worth fighting over a boy and offers to be her friend and help her with Adrien. However, Marinette refuses, saying that she will be Lila’s friend once she stops lying to everyone. She reveals that she is aware that she lied about having tinnitus, a sprained wrist, being in Achu, and being friends with Ladybug. Lila admits this and says that she only tells people what they want to hear, which Marinette says is obviously called lying. Lila nonchalantly retorts that there’s nothing Marinette can do about it when everyone can’t stand being lied to, and gives her a choice: be with her or against her. He gives Marinette until the end of the hour to decide and leaves the restroom. A frustrated Marinette walks into one of the booths and complains to Tikki about how Lila is even worse than Chloé and fears that if she doesn’t expose Lila as a liar soon, she will turn all of Marinette’s friends against her. As her emotions turn negative again, Hawk Moth sends the akuma back at Marinette just as she begins to sob. Tikki notices the akuma and alerts Marinette, who backs away in fear.
Lila gets mad at Adrien.
Lila runs into Adrien in the hallway and asks him to help her catch up on her schoolwork. She also asks him to teach her the piano, claiming that her uncle was a famous pianist who tried to teach her but had to stop due to arthritis. Adrien says he’s fine with being her friend and helping her catch up, but asks Lila not to lie to him about Ladybug. Upset that Adrien thinks she’s lying about Ladybug, Lila retorts that Ladybug is a liar, but Adrien encourages Lila to be honest with him. Lila refuses and storms off.
Marinette resists akuma.
The akuma almost infects Marinette, but with encouragement from Tikki to stay positive, she is able to prevent the akuma from infecting her. Hawk Moth is surprised that Marinette’s negative emotions have passed, but he isn’t upset because he senses something else. Marinette realizes that she has to purify the akuma before she akumatizes someone and turns into Ladybug. Meanwhile, Lila notices the akuma and lets it infect her earring. She introduces herself to Hawk Moth and promises to get him the Miraculouses Ladybug and Cat Noir if he gives her powers. Hawk Moth agrees and transforms Lila into Chameleon.
Chameleon goes to Adrien and apologizes for how she acted earlier, promises not to lie again and asks him to make up with her. She then kisses him on the cheek, takes on his appearance, and puts him to
Chameleon Adrien appears.
Chameleon, still with Adrien’s apparition, goes to Alya and Nino and insults them, removing his cap and rushing away. Ladybug watches this all unfold and follows Chameleon, who jumps onto several tall buildings and in front of a bus, causing it to veer off the road and nearly hit a woman and her child. Luckily, Ladybug saves them just in time. He then follows Chameleon to the top of the Eiffel Tower, pretending to be Adrien, who is about to fall. Ladybug catches Chameleon, who tries to “thank” Ladybug with a kiss. However, Ladybug realizes that it’s not really Adrien, and Chameleon admits that it’s true. He fights Ladybug and tries to kiss her, but Ladybug is able to dodge her attacks. Believing the akuma to be in the cap Chameleon is wearing, he rips it open, but nothing comes out. She then looks up to find the Chameleon gone, much to her frustration.
Plagg wonders what could wake Adrien from his magical sleep. Afraid that a kiss might be the answer, she reluctantly prepares to kiss Adrien. However, Adrien wakes up before Plagg does. Plagg explains how Lila put Adrien to sleep, and Adrien realizes that Lila must have been reanimated. He transforms into Cat Noir and takes off.
Chameleon takes the form of Cat Noir.
Ladybug looks for Chameleon like a woman looks for her son. A young boy appears and tells Ladybug that he saw the supervillain go on the merry-go-round. Ladybug thanks him for his help but warns him to run away. However, unbeknownst to her, the young boy is a shape-shifted chameleon and the real boy is sleeping inside the merry-go-round. The boy’s mother then appears and thanks Ladybug for finding Quentin, much to her confusion. Chameleon jumps to Ladybug and prepares to kiss her, but before he does, Cat Noir jumps in front of her and gets hit instead. Now that Cat Noir has appeared, Chameleon summons Cataclysm and attempts to use it on Ladybug, but Ladybug kisses it and her attempts. He flies off to the Eiffel Tower. Hawk Moth orders Chameleon to grab Cat Noir’s Miraculous, but Chameleon says he wants to get Ladybug’s first and follows the hero to the top of the Eiffel Tower. Ladybug calls her Lucky Charm and gets a t-shirt, which Chameleon scoffs at. She then pushes Ladybug down and tries to kiss her again, but Ladybug holds her back and looks around for a plan. He spots a waitress, an oyster, and an oyster and comes up with an idea. He tricks Chameleon into using Cataclysm on the ground below them, causing them to fall to where a selection of seafood is being served. Chameleon is about to kiss Ladybug, but Ladybug grabs an oyster and puts it in front of Chameleon’s mouth, taking his form and Cat Noir waking up. He joins Ladybug on the Eiffel Tower and congratulates her on a job well done, though notes that she still has to find the akumatized item. Ladybug gives the waitress Chameleon and a T-shirt, and she opens the oyster with an oyster drawer, revealing a black pearl inside. Ladybug breaks the pearl, cleans the akuma and returns everything to normal.
The waitress opens the Chameleon, now in the form of an oyster.
Ladybug is surprised to learn that the Chameleon was Lila, and says that now Lila can truthfully say that Ladybug saved her life. He offers her a truce, which Lila accepts and thanks Ladybug, saying that it would be an honor for her to be her friend. Ladybug advises Lila to stop lying and be honest with others, which Lila promises from now on. However, when Ladybug and Cat Noir leave, Lila makes a face that makes it clear that she has no intention of listening to Ladybug and still holds a grudge against her. Hawk Moth senses this and is certain that Lily’s feelings for Ladybug will one day serve their purpose.
Adrien convinces Marinette to leave Lila alone.
Later at school, Lila tells her classmates that Ladybug saved her life and still refers to her as her close friend. Max asks Lila if her tinnitus made her dizzy when she went up the Eiffel Tower, which Lila claims it wasn’t because Ladybug gave her an earplug, which he stuck in her right ear. Marinette, who has been listening angrily, notices how Lila said in the morning that her left ear is buzzing and is about to call Lila. However, Adrien convinces her not to because revealing her would only make things worse and if the two of them knew the truth it didn’t really matter because Lila is really good at deceiving others with her lies.
Alya decides to sit next to Marinette again.
Marinette is sitting in the back of the classroom and Adrien decides to join her, even congratulating her on taking the high road. Marinette reminds herself to focus, but inadvertently gets lost and misses Miss Bustier calling her name to attend. Miss Bustier makes Marinette sit in the front next to Lila, but Lila then claims that Ladybug has cured her tinnitus and no longer needs a front row seat, so she sits in the back next to Adrien. However, this creates a ripple effect and makes several other students want to switch seats as well, and soon everyone is sitting in their original seats, with Lila sitting next to Nathaniel.
After school Lila confronts Marinette and says that she has made up her mind and that from now on the two of them are at war. He vows to make Marinette lose all her friends and make Adrien hers. Undeterred by the threat, Marinette tells Lila that they will look into it before they leave. Lila also leaves upset.
